Mum goes viral for wrong reasons as she lashes out at trolls for 'worst gender reveal'

Send Push

A mum who was mocked online for her 'worst ever' has responded to cruel trolls in a seething rant.

The soon-to-be mother-of-three, who goes by the name online, shared a gender reveal video with her partner, where the happy couple found out they were expecting a baby boy. However, it wasn't quite the reaction they wanted and got people talking for the wrong reasons.

After uploading the video to her the clip racked up 21 million views, with people quick to comment on their 'cheap' gender reveal and even accused the mother of 'being on drugs' - which she has denied. The backlash led to her posting a second and third video to address the cruel criticism.

Commenters mocked the balloon they popped and accused the pair of using a needle and a condom. Replying to the initial video, that now has over 24,000 comments, one TikToker said: "A transparent balloon. Great idea!" While another said: "The balloon is clear so don’t really need to pop it lol."

A third asked: "Did you use a syringe to pop the balloon?" However in her follow-up video, Misti corrected the trolls and said it was a silver balloon as she held another up to the camera, and said she popped it with a cocktail stick, and not a syringe or needle as some people claimed.

She also corrected those who asked why she'd filled the balloon with laundry beads and accused her of being "cheap". But it wasn't just criticism of the balloon, many slammed the mum for looking like she was 'on drugs' and for not forking out on an expensive reveal.

"Me in 2024 inflation trying to make the most out of my money," another comment read and one person asked: "Did you use Lenor unstoppables?" Misti, who said she already knew the gender, told the camera she had filled the balloon with blue stars and that the video was intended as a fun way to tell their friends and family.

"It was just a little something to break it to them instead of just saying 'we're having a boy'," the mum clapped back. On not going all out like some mothers online, she said: "I'm not going to go and spend a fortune when I knew the gender," and added: "It wasn't something massive for the whole to know. It was something silly to show our family and friends."

She continued: "It doesn't matter that it was c***p, I'm not spending money on something I didn't need to. I could spend that money on my children, not on a balloon or some fancy banners."

Although the comments were flooded with negativity, many were quick to jump to her defence. One TikToker said: "Expensive doesn't mean better there are a lot of failed ones this wasn't a fail this was perfect," and another chimed: "Why was this the best and most realistic gender reveal? No balloon arches, massive $600 cakes - thanks for keeping it real for once!"

A third penned: "The simplicity is perfect people have made gender reveals to complicated& costly! Congratulations," and a fourth added: "I thought this was cute and simple why are we being mean in the comments?"
